Audiovisual Integration in Ensemble Perception

PI -- Prof. Yi-Chuan Chen (Dept. of Medicine, Mackay Medical College), Collaborator -- Chien-Chun Yang

About this Project:

Ensemble perception is the ability of the visual system to quickly extract aggregate statistical information (e.g., average) from groups of similar objects. Audiovisual integration examines how concurrent auditory stimuli influence vision and vice versa. In this study, we explored whether sounds of varying pitches could impact the perceived average in visual ensemble perception.

My main contributions:

• Reviewed audiovisual integration study protocols and identified mismatches across experimental conditions, facilitating timely debugging of the experiment

• Conducted 90+ study sessions containing behavioral experiments and after-study interviews
